Media Production Assistant and Coordinator

 

Requirements:

  • capture, edit, produce and conceptualise multimedia needed by various departments
  • operate and maintain computers and other equipment ie. cameras, lights, audio, props, computers and computer software
  • research and purchase equipment where needed

 

Responsibilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in appropriate field e.g. audio,video,design etc.
  • Clear criminal and credit record
  • Experience with audio and/or video editing and production and IT
  • Good understanding of and alignment with the values of the Jesuit Institute and the willingness to learn about Ignatian Spirituality
  • High integrity, honesty and confidentiality. Trustworthy, reliable, self-motivated, independent worker
  • Acceptance of diversity and inclusion

  • The candidate will also be expected to assist with basic administrative duties in the office. These will include, but are not limited to, basic office tasks, answering the gate and telephone, and preparing for and tidying up the conference centre for in-person events.

Role

As the Media Production Assistant and Coordinator, you would capture, edit, produce, and help conceptualise all multimedia needed by the various departments of the Jesuit Institute South Africa. 

 

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for producing various forms of media, from concept development to post-production to delivery.

Duties will include capturing (recording audio and video, both in the studio and in the field), directing (set design and choosing of locations, setting up and positioning of the equipment, directing the recording), and editing (editing and producing audio and audiovisual productions). This includes exporting in multiple formats, as necessary, depending on the various social media used.

The candidate will also operate and maintain computers and other equipment, research and purchase equipment where needed, and work with cameras, lights, audio, props, computers, and computer software. 

 

Qualifications and skills needed

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in the appropriate area - (Audio/Video/Design/etc.)
  • Clear criminal and credit record
  • Experience with either audio or video editing and production
  • Experience with IT
  • Video editing skills
    • Premiere Pro (or other video editing software, but prepared to learn/transition/provide own software)
    • Basic colour correction
    • Keyframe animation
    • File management
    • Export settings
    • YouTube control
  • Audio Editing
    • Extensive DAW experience (Preferably multiple DAWs or own licence)
    • Understanding of basic plugins (Eq, Compression, Expander/Gate, etc. and iZotope RX)
    • Dialogue editing
    • Audio repair
    • Basic final mix
  • On Set skills
    • Basic knowledge of framing etc
    • Extensive knowledge of DSLR operation
    • Basic audio field recorder operation
    • Basic knowledge of on-set lighting fundamentals
    • Basic knowledge of drone operation
  • Live events
    • Basic knowledge of live sound
    • Feedback control
    • Radio/electrical interference mitigation
    • Wireless mic set-up
